Our Year 10 Advanced Maths programme is designed for students ready to take on the rigour of senior mathematics early. Working through surds, logarithms, advanced algebra, trigonometry, quadratics, probability, geometry, polynomials, and functions, the programme builds both the content knowledge and the exam skills needed to excel in Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics.

Year 10A Mathematics (VIC)
Area of Study
Surds, Indices and Logarithms
You'll build a strong foundation in advanced number skills. Topics include surds, exponential graphs, logarithm laws, and problem solving with exponential and logarithmic functions. By the end, you'll be able to simplify and operate with surds, apply logarithm laws, and work with exponential and logarithmic graphs. Closes with a mock class assessment task and revision.
Area of Study
Linear Algebra
A thorough treatment of linear algebra and its applications. You'll work through advanced linear equations, half planes, parallel and perpendicular lines, and simultaneous equations and their applications. By the end, you'll be able to solve and sketch complex linear relationships and apply linear algebra to real-world modelling problems. Includes a mock assessment task and revision session.
Area of Study
Trigonometry
A comprehensive treatment of trigonometry. You'll cover trigonometric ratios and bearings, the sine and cosine rules, exact values, graphs of trigonometric functions, and solving trigonometric equations. By the end, you'll be able to solve two and three-dimensional trigonometry problems, sketch and interpret trigonometric graphs, and find exact solutions to equations. Includes a mock assessment task and revision session.

Quadratics and Probability and Statistics
Two key topic areas in one module. You'll work through quadratic algebra, sketching parabolas, and applications and problem solving, followed by a Probability and Statistics block covering representations of probability, conditional probability, and measures of centre and spread. Both topics include mock assessment tasks and revision sessions, and a geometry and measurement block covering circle properties and measurement.

Polynomials and Functions
Advanced algebra and function theory. You'll be introduced to polynomials, graphing polynomial functions, and polynomial applications, before moving into functions and transformations and the gallery of graphs. By the end, you'll be able to work with a wide range of function types, apply transformation rules, and sketch and interpret complex function graphs. Includes mock assessment tasks and revision sessions for each topic.
