Head of UCAT

Monash Medical Student

Hey! I'm Ramodh and I can't wait to help make your medicine goals a reality!

Having been through Medicine entry, I’ve seen first-hand how it’s often over-complicated and misunderstood as a daunting and complex process, which requires hours of daily preparation to even stand a chance of getting in.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Personally, I adopted a completely different approach, which focused on developing the precise set of skills tested with an emphasis on mastering the mindset needed to succeed in medicine entry.

During the program, we'll focus on these exact high-yield methods of UCAT and medical interview preparation.

Through engaging tutoring and personalised support, I'll make it my goal to give you (or your son/daughter) a clear pathway on how to prepare for your university entrance journey.

Together we’ll maximise your chances at getting into medicine.

I also believe it’s not only the tutoring or resources that make a good tutor, but importantly the support you receive during, and outside of class.

That’s why I’ll always be there with prompt replies to any questions or concerns you have, and I’ll always be working hard behind the scenes to help, motivate, and coach you along your journey to Medicine!

University Specific Packages

Unlike your ATAR or UCAT score, interviews for Australian medical schools are have differences in timing, question styles, format nuances, and assessment criteria that can have a significant impact on how you prepare for entry.

We’ve developed packages for the six major universities known for competitive interview processes to help applicants prepare for the real experience of these individual interviews.

University Mastery Workshop

Before classes begin, students complete a full diagnostic across all selective-entry components. This reveals strengths, weaknesses, behaviour under time pressure, and readiness against selective standards.

From here, we map a clear, individual path to improvement.

University Workbook

Small classes. Big outcomes. Each week focuses on one core component.

Daily 1-Hour Group Sessions

Progress comes from repetition and consistency. Each week includes independent practice, timed mini-tests, extension questions for top-end students, and detailed solutions. Consistency is the single most reliable predictor of selective-entry success.

200+ Uni-Specific Practice Stations

Everything is designed to build confidence, precision, and exam readiness. Students receive full access to:

FAQs

All your questions answered.

What tech do I need?

A computer or tablet with reliable internet, webcam and microphone for Zoom workshops and online interviews. Our mock simulation platform works comfortably on any modern browser.

How is this different from generic interview prep?

We prepare you comprehensively for 6 specific uni formats (MMI + Panel). Each university has its own structure, timing, question styles, and assessment criteria. Generic preparation won’t match what you’ll actually face. (We’re biased, but we don’t recommend that risk.)We’re also young and energetic medical students who were in the same position as you not long ago. So you’ll always have a friendly and encouraging team to support you throughout the program!

Who teaches the program?

Core workshops are led by James Blanch (Head of Interviews) with select sessions by Ramodh Jayasinghe (Head of MedPrep). Daily practice, 1-on-1s and text support are run by current medical/dental students who recently interviewed successfully for the exact unis you’re applying to.

When is the best time to sign up?

Spots in our program are strictly limited and we have higher demand this year than ever before, so the best time is now. Sign up here. The earlier you sign up, the more likely you’ll get your preferred schedule for workshops, practice sessions, and mock interviews.

What happens after I sign-up?

You’ll get a Welcome Email with your Kick-off Form to choose workshop times, daily practice slots, and mock interviews. You’ll also receive next steps outlining Learning Portal access, and how to get started right away.

Should I wait until I receive an interview offer to sign up? What if my UCAT is low?

The simple answer: we don’t recommend waiting. To get into medicine, you need both an offer and a strong interview. If your UCAT/ATAR is lower, the interview is even more critical in standing out. Every year, students with “low” scores still get in, because they prepared early and nailed the interview. If you wait, you risk missing out on valuable preparation time and can miss out on a place in our program. Preparing early means you’ll be ready the moment an offer comes, and feel confident the whole way through. And remember, our 5-day money-back guarantee is 5-days from the program start date, so it removes most risk.

Will a High UCAT/ATAR be enough?

Not always. The reality is that even students with 99.95 ATARs and 99th percentile UCATs can miss out because the interview can count for 25–50% of selection. A single 10-minute MMI station can matter more than your entire Year 12 English exam. Every year, top scorers miss out because they didn’t take the interview seriously, and we’d hate for that to be you!

Can I just use free resources?

You can, of course, but most are outdated, generic, or mismatched to Australian uni formats. Practicing the wrong way, or with misguided resources, can actually make you worse. Our resources are built by expert medical students who’ve recently succeeded at the universities you’re applying to, so you’ll practice with the correct guidance and support.

Should I memorise model responses?

No. Interviewers want to see how you think, not a rehearsed script. Memorised answers sound robotic and can easily fall apart with unexpected questions. Instead, we help you prepare with flexible frameworks you can adapt to any scenario, so your answers stay genuine.

Can I just practise a lot without learning strategies?

Practice alone = slow progress. Practice with frameworks and content knowledge = rapid improvement. We teach proven structures you can use across stations, plus essentials like ethics and rural health, so your practice sessions actually make you stronger.

Will this guarantee an interview or an offer?

No program can guarantee that. Interview offers depend on your UCAT/ATAR and uni criteria. Our focus is maximising your performance once you have the chance to interview.

How long does the program take?

The 6 core workshops run over 2–4 weeks from your start date. Uni-specific sessions, mock interviews, and 1-on-1s are booked to fit your interview dates. You can also adjust throughout the program if schedules change.

What if I miss a workshop?

All workshop sessions are recorded and available on-demand on the Learning Portal, so you can easily catch up on any missed content at your convenience.

How do daily practice sessions work?

You’re assigned a daily 1-hour slot with a specific tutor. Attend as often as you like (you don’t need to attend every day!); if you can’t make it, you can jump into another session that day.

Do I really need simulated mocks?

Yes, absolutely. Practising alone or with friends/family helps, but mocks simulate the real pressure, timing and scoring. You’ll face near-identical stations, get detailed scoring + feedback, and learn directly from doctors and medical student interviewers who’ve succeeded themselves. It’s the fastest way to feel prepared, and walk into your real interview confidently because you’ve done it before.

Are the mocks uni-specific?

Yes! We simulate the exact format, timing, question style, nuances, and assessment approach for the specific university you select.

Baseline vs uni-specific mocks: what’s the difference?

The Baseline is a standard MMI designed as a diagnostic to assess your level and personalise your plan. Uni-specific mocks replicate the exact format (e.g., Monash, UNSW, JCU) you’ll face, to prepare you for your actual interviews.

Who runs the mocks?

Doctors and medical students with recent experience and success in that uni’s specific format. They’ve all been through the interview process, and understand what makes candidates successful.

What’s included in mock interview feedback?

Each mock gives you 1-hour of verbal feedback from each interviewer plus an 8+ page personalised report with scores, written notes, tailored scorecards, the actual stations for home review, re-attempt links, answer guides and model responses.

How does the daily feedback work?

Submit practice responses through our VideoAsk platform and tutors send back a 5-minute personalised video highlighting your strengths and exactly what to improve. Included for free in all packages.

Do I really need uni-specific prep?

Yes. What works for Monash MMI won’t work in a UNSW Panel. Our resources are built by students who recently succeeded at each specific uni.

How do I access the resources?

We’ll send you Learning Portal logins before you start. You’ll see some limited content initially, and everything will be released after the 5-day guarantee window (or if you waive your guarantee), including all workshop recordings, workbooks, practice stations, answer guides and model responses.

What support is available?

24/7 text support (reply within 24 hours) from our expert med student tutors, daily 1-hour practice sessions, free daily 5-minute feedback videos, and tutor support during workshops/practice sessions.

How do 1-on-1s work?

Pick your preferred tutor, book a 60-minute session, and get completely personalised coaching/mentorship to address specific weaknesses or university requirements. Many students book right after their first mock to address specific feedback areas, or for last-minute preparation support.

Who are the 1-on-1 tutors?

Current medical/dental students with recent experience and proven interview expertise for the formats you’re targeting. (You can select uni-specific tutors.)

How do the simulations work?

You’ll access VideoAsk links for stations on your workbooks, watch dynamic prompts and record responses in real time, simulating the true MMI experience.

Who writes the answer guides?

Guides are authored by Dr Ben Fox (General Surgeon; experienced MMI interviewer) and our expert developers. Dr Ben has personal experience navigating MMIs and has interviewed hundreds of candidates as an MMI interviewer.

How current is the content?

Continuously updated to reflect latest formats and student feedback. Tutors are current medical students with recent interview experience, ensuring all strategies and info reflect current requirements.
