Year 10 Advanced Mathematics (VIC) Tutoring

Year 10 is the launch pad into VCE maths, and the decisions made here shape which senior subjects are open to your child. Contour runs the Advanced course, built around the algebra, functions and reasoning that Units 1 to 4 assume, taught for mastery rather than mere coverage. Three streams run off the same program, so students bridging into Methods and students aiming at Specialist are both stretched at the right pace.

One full week of classes, workshops and resources. No credit card. No obligation to continue.

The Program

One program, three layers of support

Most tutoring gives you an hour a week and hopes for the best. The Contour [Subject] program is built in three layers, so learning, practice and personalised support all happen every single week.

Three packages - each building on the last. Start with a single simulation, or go all-in with the complete preparation pathway. Early bird pricing is available for a limited time.

Three packages - each building on the last. Start with a single simulation, or go all-in with the complete preparation pathway. Early bird pricing is available for a limited time.

Tutoring
Learn it properly

Your weekly foundation. New content taught before school gets there, first principles built, misconceptions caught early.

  • Weekly 2-hour class, small groups, at your campus or live online
  • A 2-hour workshop every week: harder problems with tutors on the floor
  • Core, Mastery and Extension streams off the same program, at your own pace
  • Taught ahead of school, so class becomes your revision
  • Hard-capped groups, matched by school and friends where possible
  • Every class recorded and uploaded to your portal

Included in your weekly enrolment

Three packages - each building on the last. Start with a single simulation, or go all-in with the complete preparation pathway. Early bird pricing is available for a limited time.

Resources
Practise it deeply

Where marks are actually won. Structured practice that turns understanding into fast, accurate exam performance.

  • Weekly workbook with theory, worked examples and tips
  • [#] purpose-built resources, matched to the Victorian Curriculum F-10 Version 2.0
  • Weekly homework that ramps from one chilli to three, one skill at a time
  • Five Mock CATs before every CAT, so no assessment is ever the first attempt
  • Six marked CATs and an invigilated End of Year Exam
  • The CAS Hub: calculator skills taught properly, years before VCE assumes them

Support
Get help your way

Because nobody learns exactly the same way. Personalised support built around you, not bolted on as an extra.

  • The maths text line: message your tutor a photo of the question you're stuck on
  • Unlimited free 1:1 consultations on your specific weak areas
  • Catch-up plans if you join mid-year or fall behind
  • Study skills and exam technique guidance, built for the years before VCE
  • Progress updates for parents throughout the year

How it works

Your weekly learning journey at Contour

Seven touchpoints, every single week. This is what a week of [Subject] looks like inside the program, from your first class to your last question answered at 9pm.

Your week starts
1

Learn from engaging and passionate tutors

Your weekly 2-hour class covers new [Year level] Maths content ahead of school, taught from first principles by tutors who scored 45+ raw in VCE Maths. Small groups mean every question gets answered, and every misconception gets caught before it turns into a habit.

2

See walkthroughs from past high achievers

Watch how raw-50 scorers actually set out their working, check their answers and manage time under pressure.

3

Practise and clarify your doubts in class

Work through curated problems with your tutor beside you, so confusion never survives the week it appeared in.

4

Do weekly homework to consolidate learning

A targeted homework booklet locks in each week's content, ramping from one chilli to three so every skill is built before it gets combined.

5

Attend workshop for additional practice

A bonus weekly workshop tackles harder problems and CAT preparation, at no extra cost.

6

Review and practise at home on our Learning Portal

Recordings, resources, practice stations and answer guides, available anytime from any device.

7

Message your tutor whenever you're stuck

Stuck on a question? Message the maths text line and get a proper explanation, not a link to a video. Learning does not stop when class ends, and neither does the support.

Then it repeats, every week until the November exam
Your Tutors

Guided by expert tutors, not a tutor lottery

Every tutor here has been carefully selected (around 5% of applicants make it through the Contour Tutor Academy), then trained and supported to deliver at a consistently high standard, across every class, campus and time slot.

This is some text inside of a div block.

Hey! I'm Ramodh and I can't wait to help make your medicine goals a reality!

Having been through Medicine entry, I’ve seen first-hand how it’s often over-complicated and misunderstood as a daunting and complex process, which requires hours of daily preparation to even stand a chance of getting in.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Personally, I adopted a completely different approach, which focused on developing the precise set of skills tested with an emphasis on mastering the mindset needed to succeed in medicine entry.

During the program, we'll focus on these exact high-yield methods of UCAT and medical interview preparation.

Through engaging tutoring and personalised support, I'll make it my goal to give you (or your son/daughter) a clear pathway on how to prepare for your university entrance journey.

Together we’ll maximise your chances at getting into medicine.

I also believe it’s not only the tutoring or resources that make a good tutor, but importantly the support you receive during, and outside of class.

That’s why I’ll always be there with prompt replies to any questions or concerns you have, and I’ll always be working hard behind the scenes to help, motivate, and coach you along your journey to Medicine!

Bonus weekly workshops
A second session every week, at no extra cost

Class is where you learn it. Workshop is where you sharpen it.

  • Harder problems, tutors on the floor. Every workshop pushes past the school textbook standard, with tutors walking between students to check working, prompt and stretch.
  • CAT-week revision mode. In the lead-up to school CATs, workshops pivot to targeted CAT preparation for the topics you're being tested on.
  • Spaced repetition built in. Every workshop revisits earlier topics, then finishes with beyond-curriculum extension problems for students who want them.
  • Recorded and uploaded, so you never lose a workshop to a clash with sport, work or a school event.

CATs & the End of Year Exam
Walk into every assessment like you own the place

Every CAT and the End of Year Exam is rehearsed before it counts.

  • Five Mock CATs before every CAT, so no assessment is ever the first attempt.
  • Six marked CATs across the year, sat under school-style timed conditions, fully marked and returned with a breakdown of what to focus on next.
  • An invigilated End of Year Exam that mirrors the school's own, sat in early Term 4 with a full topic-by-topic breakdown returned.
  • Detailed feedback that maps each mistake back to the exact skill or misconception, so you know what to fix before it costs you next time.

Built for Year 10 Advanced Maths

Not generic tutoring. Year 10-specific weapons.

Year 10 Advanced Maths is won on closing the gap to VCE before VCE arrives. So we built resources that target exactly that.

Five before every CAT
The Mock CAT Program

Five Mock CATs before every single CAT, so the real thing is never the first time. Across the year that is thirty rehearsals: some come home as revision homework, one before each CAT is sat inside the workshop under time, and the rest are yours to use whenever you want another rep. Every one comes back with worked solutions and a walkthrough recording.

One chilli to three
The Chilli-Ramp Homework

Every homework booklet is built one learning objective at a time, starting at one chilli and ramping to three, so a skill is genuinely mastered before it gets combined with anything else. Then an application section and a previous-topic section make sure March content is still there in November.

Core, Mastery and Extension
The Three-Stream Advanced Program

Year 10 is the year the gap to Methods opens up, so the whole program is Advanced. Core, Mastery and Extension run off the same workbook, with an extension section in every booklet and a 10-mark extension section in every CAT, so students aiming at Specialist are stretched now rather than in February.

Support between classes

Never stuck for longer than one message

Most tutoring ends when the hour ends. At Contour, the hours between classes are where our support system does its best work.

  • Unlimited free 1:1 consultations. Book a 15 or 30 minute video call through the Learning Portal whenever you have a question. There is no cap and no extra cost.
  • The maths text line. Message your tutor a photo of the question you are stuck on and get a proper, personalised explanation. CAT-week revision included.
  • Every lesson recorded. Missed a class or want a topic explained again? Rewatch any walkthrough on the portal, any time.

Every tutor and support team member holds a Working with Children Check.

1-on-1 tutoring

Considering private tutoring? We have got you.

One-on-one tutoring is already included, free and unlimited, in every Contour program. Scan the QR code at the back of any booklet or book through the Learning Portal, and a trained tutor takes you through a 15 or 30 minute session over video call. Have a concept re-taught from scratch, work through the questions you could not crack, or have your Mock CAT gone over before the real one. There is no cap on how many you book, no extra cost, and no separate tutor to find.

Your class, your people

You won't be dropped into a room of strangers

Small groups only work when they're the right groups. When you enrol, we place you into a class that fits, and we keep adjusting until it does.

A dedicated point of contact

One person who knows your family, your subjects and your goals.

Subject selection guidance

Pick the right subjects for the score and the course you want.

Career counselling

Where the marks are taking you, and what to do next.

Wellbeing support

The year is a marathon. We watch the person, not just the marks.

Catch-up plans

Fallen behind or joining mid-year? We map a personalised plan to get you back to pace fast.

Parent updates

Regular progress reports, so you always know how it's tracking without having to ask.

All included, free

None of this is an add-on. It comes with being a Contour family.

Beyond the classroom

More than tutoring: an academic partnership

One team responsible for your whole journey: people who know your name, your goals and your next step.

Grouped by school

Same school where possible, so your class shares your SAC calendar and a few familiar faces. Your practice SACs arrive when your school's do.

Come with a friend

Trial together and we'll try to place you in the same class. The hard weeks are easier with mates in the room.

1 in 3 Contour students joined with a friend.

Matched by level

Chasing a raw 50, or consolidating the fundamentals? Both deserve a class pitched at the right pace. Same workbooks, same resources, same price, and you can move any time.

Not the right fit after a few weeks? Switching classes, timeslots or campuses is easy and free. Multiple weekly timeslots run for Methods 3/4 across our campuses and online, so tutoring fits around school, sport and life.

Contour’ UCAT tutoring provides detailed schedules and effective learning methods. This has helped my son to quickly build up the skills and confidence on the UCAT journey. The eventual satisfying score has proven the great value of attending the program. Thanks again for Contour’s accompaniment. Honestly you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not joining Contour for their UCAT course. From skill set to mindset they've got you covered. Going into my UCAT prep I had the motivation to do well but with something as obscure as the UCAT.

I would absolutely recommend the Contour MedPrep program to anyone looking for a more guided and supportive approach to UCAT prep, because it not only taught me the skills I needed to ace my UCAT, it also gave me a support network of people who knew exactly how I felt before, during, and after my exam! Thank you, Contour!

My daughter is doing interview preparation with Contour, and I am equally confident in the quality of their program for this next stage. Ultimately, whether you want to invest in UCAT exam and interview preparation is a personal decision. However, based on our experience, I can say it is definitely worth the money.

FAQs

Every question, answered

Still deciding? Book a free consultation and we'll map out the right plan for your student together.

What's included each week?

A two-hour live class with a primary and secondary tutor, weekly homework with worked solutions, full Contour Learning Portal access, regular in-class mocks, and unlimited one-on-one support. Writing students also receive unlimited essay feedback.

What year levels is it for?

From the end of Year 6 to the exam in the middle of Year 8, across three stages: Foundation, Core, and Mastery. Students can join at any stage.

What if I still have questions?

Reach out at hello@contoureducation.com.au and our team will be happy to help.

My child has never prepared for a selective exam before. Is that ok?

Absolutely. The program takes a student from first exposure to exam-ready, and students join at every stage of preparation.

Is this suitable for John Monash Science School?

No. John Monash uses a different entrance exam with a different format. This program prepares students for the Victorian Selective Entry exam.

In person or online?

Both. Choose a campus or join live online. The program is identical either way.

How will I know how my child is progressing?

Every student is benchmarked against the full Contour cohort, and you engage in a 1-on-1 Strategy Consultation after each major mock, so you always know where they stand and what to work on next.

How much does it cost?

A flat $80 per week, per subject, across all stages. Materials and the Contour Learning Portal are included. No hidden fees.

How is the program structured?

A three-stage pathway taken in sequence: Foundation builds the underlying skills, Core develops speed and accuracy, and Mastery sharpens technique under full timed conditions. Most providers start in Year 7; we start at the end of Year 6, so students arrive conditioned, not crammed.

Can we try it first?

Yes. Every family is invited to a one-week, obligation-free trial: a baseline diagnostic, a class in each subject of interest, and a one-on-one review of the results. Come and experience it before deciding anything.

Pricing

Transparent pricing. Everything included.

No enrolment fees, no resource fees, no surprise extras. One weekly price covers the entire Methods 3/4 system.
