Year 10 Mathematics (VIC)
Area of Study
Numbers and Financial Mathematics
You'll consolidate and extend your number skills through fractions, decimals, percentages, rates and ratios, surds, index laws, and an introduction to logarithms. You'll then move into financial mathematics, covering retail and profit, income and taxation, and advanced financial applications including interest and investment calculations. Closes with a Numbers class assessment task and a Financial Maths and Networks combined assessment.

Networks
An introduction to graph theory and network mathematics. You'll explore elements of graphs, planar graphs, graph properties, weighted graphs, and shortest path algorithms. By the end, you'll be able to represent and analyse networks mathematically and apply graph algorithms to solve practical problems such as route planning and resource allocation.
Area of Study
Trigonometry and Geometry
A thorough treatment of geometry and trigonometry. Topics include Pythagoras' Theorem, trigonometric ratios and applications, angles of elevation and depression, compass bearings, congruence, and similarity. By the end, you'll be able to solve a wide range of two and three-dimensional problems using trigonometry and geometric reasoning. Closes with a class assessment task.

Linear Algebra and Statistics
Two important topic areas covered in depth. You'll work through linear algebra including graphing, parallel and perpendicular lines, and simultaneous equations, then move into statistics covering data visualisation, measures of centre and spread, and bivariate data and scatter plots. By the end, you'll be able to solve and interpret linear relationships and analyse statistical data using appropriate measures and displays. Closes with a combined assessment task.

Quadratic Equations and Measurement
You'll develop skills in quadratic algebra and measurement. Topics include quadratic algebra, solving quadratic equations, graphing quadratics, perimeter and area, surface area, and volume. By the end, you'll be able to factorise and solve quadratic equations, sketch parabolas, and calculate measurements for a range of two and three-dimensional shapes. Closes with a combined assessment task.

A structured revision program covering all areas of study, including Financial Maths, Linear Algebra, Networks, Measurement, and all assessed topics, before a full End of Year Exam.
